OVERVIEW
AGtour is an Art tours guide in Great Toronto area. It’s a catalog of different galleries in GTA and ability to book their tours and build your schedule. App will be perfect for teachers and art lovers.
The problem: Build you own schedule based on tours in different galleries.
The goal: Design an app that allows people to book tours in different museums and keep all events in one place.
My role: UX designer creating AGtour app from conception to delivery.
Responsibilities: Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

USER RESEARCH
After short series of interview I created empathy map describing users needs.
Majority of users are Tour guides and Teachers.
My initial assumption of users being an art lover didn’t fully describe this user group. They are more focused on organizing and building their tied schedule.
I’ve created Personas and their User journey maps. Mapping Sobir’s journey reveal need in calendar and ability to share events. Mapping Maria’s journey reveal need in organizing list of tours and filter it.
DESIGN
Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a map with different museums to help users save time.
As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research.
Easy navigation was a key user need to address in the designs in addition to equipping the app to work with assistive technologies.
Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow I connected was finding and booking a tour, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.
REFINING THE DESIGN
Early designs allowed to search different museums, but after the usability studies, I added additional options to find your location. I also revised the design so users see all the tours nearby when they first land on the screen.
The second usability study revealed frustration with the limited ability to share events with friends. To streamline this flow, I added more SM icons and made a overlay screen for sharing.
The final high-fidelity prototype presented cleaner user flows for finding a tour and booking it. It also met user needs for a building a schedule as well as more customization.
Impact: The app makes users feel easy to choose and book tours.
One quote from peer feedback:“The app made it so easy and fun to build my own schedule! I would definitely use this app as a go-to for a finding and booking my tours.”
What I learned: While designing the AGtour app, I learned that the first ideas for the app are only the beginning of the process. Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the app’s designs.
